Florida Class D (Unarmed)
In order to work as a security officer in the state of Florida you are required to obtain a security license. A class D-License is for security professionals who want to work unarmed. It is the most basic security license however, it is critical that every security officer learn the material and master the skills and knowledge that they will use in the line of duty.
The Florida D License Class with advanced security training course will provide the basic requirements for employment as an unarmed security guard officer as is required by Florida State Statutes Section 493. The State will allow you to complete initially only24-hours and apply for your license however, you must complete the additional 16-hours within 180 days from the date of issue. Failure to do so will result in student and prospective security officer to re-take the entire 40-hoursover. Any person applying for a license must be at least 18 years of age, be of good moral character, not have a disqualifying criminal history or disqualifying history of mental illness, drug or alcohol abuse and must be authorized to work in this country.
After completion of the unarmed class D class, our students will be issued a temporary security officer license from the state of Florida until the permanent security guard license is received. The state of Florida will issue the permanent D License within 30 to 90 days of completing the D license security officer class in our security guard training academy.
